Release Notes – Version 2.12.4
Introduction:
SmartCare Pro version 2.12.4 is a significant upgrade from SmartCare Plus that aims to support clinical end-users in digitizing healthcare services and fulfilling reporting requirements set by the Ministry of Health, PEPFAR, and implementing partners. This version also addresses various new features, reported incidents and issues. This document summarizes the key new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and improvements made since the previous version.

1.2 Newly Developed Features/Modules
The recent updates to the SmartCare Pro represent significant advancements in clinical functionality, focusing on enhancing patient care and streamlining healthcare processes.
- Search: Biometrics has been altered to prompt users to first streamline the search by name (or any other searching parameter), upon obtaining streamlined list then biometrics is engaged to enhance finding capabilities.
- HTS: The HIV Test Service section now offers options for a Professional Administered Test or Self-Test. If the client is HIV positive, a notification states that no further HTS (HIV Testing Services) can be added.
- VMMC Review visit: This visit allows users to select review periods ranging from 0-2 days to over 6 weeks for flexible follow-ups. It enables documentation of specific complaints such as wound pain, swelling, and fever, providing a detailed patient history. Additionally, new fields for tracking complications and their severity offer comprehensive monitoring of patient issues.
- PREP Continuation module: New module to document continuation PREP continuation visit.
- Appointment module: The Appointments section now categorizes appointments into upcoming, missed, cancelled, and completed. It includes filters for name, sex, date, service, and department, allowing detailed tracking and management of patient appointments.
- Buddy Pick Up: The Purpose of Visit section allows users to specify the reason for the visit, such as Buddy Pick Up or Patient Present, providing clarity on visit intent.
- Patient binding: The binding feature now tracks the nature of patient relationships, enhancing data accuracy and supporting coordinated care.
- GBV module: All options are placed on the same interface enhancing usability by consolidating options, streamlining the user experience for efficient navigation.
- Diagnosis: We have updated the investigation dashboard section by adding a button that allows users to download a lab request form upon submitting a lab test order successfully.

- Death module: Ensures completeness of death records by capturing essential details, supporting thorough documentation for accurate reporting and ability to print both Notice of death and Medical Certification Cause of Death.
- Cervical Cancer: A new CaCx module has been added to assist with cervical cancer diagnosis and treatment workflow.
- TB Module: TB module has been revamped with the following sub-modules, incorporating both Adult and Pediatric patient treatment guidelines.
- Admissions Dashboard: Centralized dashboard for active admissions has been added in this version to manage admissions more efficiently.
- SMS Notifications: SMS features have been developed to send notifications to patients regarding various services and appointments.
1.3 SmartCare Pro Admin Panel
- Revamped & Interactive UI for better user control and reference data creation.
- In-line record creation and editing options enabled in the admin module.
- A dashboard page has been introduced.
- Clean and compact user interface for smoother interactions.
- User permissions redefined to facilitate new user onboarding.
1.4 Reporting functionality improvements
The production system is now decoupled from the reporting system, improving report generation turnaround time. By using an OLTP database for production and an OLAP system for reporting, several advantages are gained:

1.5 Enhancements on PEPFAR MER Reports
- HIA 1 A & B: Added reports to cater for disease aggregation in OPD and IPD settings.
- ANC Registers: Added report to cater for ANC services in MNCH department.
- Child Health Immunisation Register: Added report to cater for Immunization services in MNCH department.
- PNC Registers: Added report to cater for PNC services in MNCH department.
- QAQI: Tx_Curr Harmonized with PEPFAR MER, HIA 2 and ART Registers as per PEPFAR MER 2.7 guide.
- OPD Register: Added report to cater for OPD services.
- IPD Register: Added report to cater for IPD services.
- PEPFAR MER: Tx_Curr Harmonized with QAQI, HIA 2 and ART Registers as per PEPFAR MER 2.7 guide.
- ART Registers: Standardized reporting across all reports.
